Bio
Cody Venzke is a Senior Staff Attorney in the ALCU's Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project. He previously served as a Senior Policy Counsel in the ACLU's National Political Advocacy Department. Cody focuses on consumer privacy, artificial intelligence, children's privacy, and governmental uses of data. He is an author of a treatise published by LexisNexis on education data and student privacy.
Prior to joining the ACLU, Cody worked as a Senior Counsel at the Center for Democracy & Technology and as an Attorney Advisor and Honors Attorney at the Federal Communications Commission. He clerked for the Hon. Julio Fuentes on the Third Circuit and the Hon. Jan DuBois on the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Cody litigated with an international law firm, and prior to starting his law career, he taught math at a large public high school in Houston, Texas through Teach For America.
Cody graduated from St. Olaf College and Stanford Law School. He is admitted to practice in California. He is not a member of the DC Bar, and pursuant to Rule 49 of the DC Court of Appeals, his practice in DC is limited to federal agencies and federal courts, or under the supervision of a member of the DC Bar.
