WASHINGTON — White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders today suggested that the Department of Justice should investigate the anonymous senior administration official that authored the New York Times op-ed. The comments followed similar calls on Friday by President Trump for a DOJ investigation.

Ben Wizner, director of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Speech, Privacy, and Technology Project, issued the following statement in response:

“Writing this op-ed was not a crime. Using law enforcement resources to hunt down the writer is an abuse of power.”
